Does Amir ever really redeem himself? Is redemption possible for anyone? Explain. I think amir is trying to redeem himself through sohrab, because of hassan. He doesnt want to keep living with that guilt and misery anymore. The only thing he can do now is forgive himself, Baba, and Rahim Khan for keeping that secret from him. he needs to move on and go a separate way. He's slowly doing that by taking full responsibility for sohrab and caring for him. I believe he feels and understands his pain and what he went through because of hassan and how he's still trying to figure out his own life.

It's something we all have to do :)

In some ways yes he has redeemed himself. Its something that sometimes it takes longer, and alot of effot. Even if it causes someone to do things for themselves, to make themselves feel good or better for something that they did or didn't do. Yes, there .is room for everyone to redeem themselves. Its never too late unless you die. Like Noonan said, EVERYONE that does something feels good about it afterwards.

Redemption

I dont think Amir redeemed or will ever redeem himself because he is still stuck in the past and always remembering about the past which means he hasn't moved on at all and it still bothers him and It follows  him everywhere he goes. I think anyone can redeem themselves but that's if  they are able to move on with their lives.
I think amir feels redempti on through sohrab. since hes hassans son and doesnt want to have guilt anympre.

im so done with amir

Im personally over Amir. I do not think that he has redemed himself in my eyes. Maybe to eveyone around him who is nieve to why he is really doing all of these good deeds but not me. He is only being nice to Hassans son and doing all these other good things like getting beat up because he want to feel good again. If had done nothing wong in the past i think he would still be an ass and not care.

Redemption???

Does Amir ever really redeem himself? Is redemption possible for anyone?
Explain.

I think that Amir really doesn't redeem himself because to me I think he doing all of this for all the wrong reasons. Amir is only doing this to get his guilt out of his conscious. He thinks that by doing good he will no longer have guilt and can continue on with what he has to do. Amir only looks at ways that are going to benefit him. And not so much his freindship with Hassan. I do think that he has realized everything he did though. I think redemption is possible for people so long as there not trying to do it jst to benefit themselves.

Redemption

HAmir has been through a lot and keep thinking about the past that wish was different. He will never redeem himself if he is stuck in the past and let it go before he goes insane. Redemption is possible for anyone because they have problems like Amir and if they won't let go of past it will haunt you for a long time.

Is Redemption Possible....

I think is pretty obvious that Amir had at least started to redeem himself if not fully. I personally think Amir hasn't just redeemed himself but also for his father baba and the things he did. Though he is taking on a lot in life at this point and learning the truth about himself, his father and Hassan. He still want's to make things right, not just because of his guilt but also because of the fact he found out he has a brother that he treated Hassan like crap and watched him get raped. Though in the beginning I have to say I personally feel he was doing it all for the wrong reasons but as time goes on I see that hes starting to realize things and see them in a better perspective and is growing and becoming strong and mature. Not weak and hiding behind others like when he was a boy but hes growing into the man Baba wanted him to be, the man that Baba himself could not be.

Redeeeeeemption!

Does Amir ever really redeem himself? Is redemption possible for anyone? Explain.

I think no because he never really tells anyone what happens with Hassan, he thinks by adopting he's son he will redeem himself but thats not how it really works. I think it is, if you confess to your situation, and admit how wrong you were.

Redeem?

Does Amir ever really redeem himself? Is redemption possible for anyone? Explain. I think that Amir really isn't able to redeem from certain stuff that happened in his life. For example when he watched Hassan get raped and didn't do anything. Now he feels guilty about hat happen because now he found out that Hassan was his brother. So its like he watched his brother get raped by Assef. He would never be able to recover and move on from that because even though Hassan's dead. His still has Sohrab around him and knowing that same thing happened to him. But Amir is learning to live with it and to make things the best of it. He has to learn to redeem everything that has gone on with him. How he ruined a great friendship/brothership between him and Hassan just because he was jealous. Amir is now trying to make a good friend with his nephew because he ruined what he had with Hassan. He trying to make the best of it so that he could move on and not have to live with what he was living with. =)

redemption

Does Amir ever really redeem himself? Is redemption possible for anyone? Explain.
Amir has a very painful past and has this guilt that never really leaves him alone. Having the thought in his head that what he did was wrong really is affecting his life. After Amir watched Hassan get raped nothing was the same. He was filled with guilt and regret.I think that no amount of redemption can erase his past. Redemption is possible for anyone. It's never too late to try and make things better for yourself. Everyone makes mistakes that later we end up regretting but  you can always find a new path that leads you to better ways :)

Faith for me is believing that everything will be okay. Faith is something that is portrayed in this book especially with Amir. He is in a situation were he has to live with a guilt since he was small and he still manages to keep his life going when knowing and remembering what happened in his childhood. Amir is the character that portrays faith the most in this book.

FAITH :]

Faith is portrayed in this novel by the fact amir having faith in jist moving on in life and that he thinks everything is going to get better when some things gets worst. The characters that have faith are Baba, Hassan, Amirs wife, and Rahim. Baba defines  faith by the way he acts like everything possible and that he sort of encourages Amir but like in a tougher way. Amir doesn't reall show faith because he is just hiding from his past
How is faith portrayed in this novel? Which characters have faith? How does Baba define faith? What about Amir? everyone has their own perspective of faith. People could have their different definitions. I define faith as in something that you believe in and have great hope in. in the book kite runner there was lots of different stories about faith. Baba had lots of faith in his life because of everything he was blessed with even when it was something gone wrong. Baba never gave up in life he did whatever he had to do. Baba had the type of faith that he was like he didn't want help from anyone. He practically was like his faith was himself and Amir. Amir faith was sort of leaning towards dad see what he'll do to help fix something. But i feel that both amir and baba had faith in go but just didn't really show it. This entire book is practically all based on faith. Everyone had there own faith. They believed in something to get it done. Peoples faith was really strong. I Think that amir had a lot of faith because, from all characters he showed his strong side Be did whatever to be happy and not look back. he had faith that he would become an writer and become married. he believed that his father raised him good

o.o

(dont wanna do this, still tired even though i woke up at 2:30 lololol) Faith is portrayed in the God Allah. I know that Rahim Khan guy always brings him up in the book, and so does the General. They say something that your faith lies in Allahs eyes or hands. And that it would be determined in the future for you. I think Rahim has alot of faith in Amir, btu hes just not trying at all. He does believe that Amir could do better and is this whole other new person. Alot of Amir's faith lies in Baba and Hassan, I think. Amir always supported and followed what Baba did and said. That was his bestfriend. And Hassan because of what happened, and how Hassan still talked about Amir and wondered how he was all those years. Amir still had "unfinished" business with him. Amir does have a lack in faith through out the book though, he doesn't know what to believe in or hope for. He seems more stuck in the middle between it all.

Faith!!

How is faith portrayed in this novel? Which characters have faith? How does Baba
define faith? What about Amir?

Faith is definitely portrayed in this novel because most of the characters seem to have faith and and are very serious about there religion. I think the charcters that do have faith within the novel are Baba and Amir. I think those are the ones that show they truely beileve in what there religion. Baba has shown faith by always praying for himself and Amir. He prays that someday he turns out to be a good man.

Faith :)

I have to say evryones faith is displaded different throughout the book and for most there faith changes. Like for babe and how he says the biggerst sin is theft and how he tells amir not to ever commit it, yet latter we find he himself has commited theft and Hassan is his son as well. Which goes ageinst every thing he said and for Amir he now knows it was all a lie but it changes him b.c he wants to change his way if you will but i dont think nessisaraly for the right reasons. Buts that what i think

im doing this @ 7 33 i have faith it'll be half right)

im going to be honset im tired its early this might be wrong..gove me effort credit.

How is faith portrayed in this novel? Which characters have faith? How does Baba define faith? What about Amir?

In the novel everyone has their own form of faith. What they believe is going to happen and what actually happens. Hassain has faith to the extreme and most of his faith is based in Amir. Even though Amir always seems to sail him. Baba defines faith by believing in the outcome of the income. What ever happens he just  lets it follow because he knows theres really no changing the future. Amir hasnt really tapped into his faith.

omg im tired im outttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

Having Faith

Faith is portrayed in this book is when Amir and Baba was living Kabul and going to America. Baba was losing faith because he thought they will never make it out of live in Kabul and just lost faith because of that. Amir still kept his faith because he knew everything was going to be fine. Amir kept his faith because he believe and didn't stop using faith at all. Baba define faith is when you have courage and having good things going around you. Amir still had faith and never stop having faith faith because he believe things would happen.

Faithhhhhh (Me Singing)

How is faith portrayed in this novel? Which characters have faith? How does Baba define faith? What about Amir?

Faith is portrayed in this novel in small ways. Like how Baba really wasn't into religion, but he had faith in little things, such as when he said the biggest sin is theft. Baba, Rahim Khan, Ali, and Hassan are the main characters that have faith in this book. Amir doesn't define faith in any way because he is a stupid BASTARD!

A faith is a necessity to a man. Woe to him who believes in nothing.

Faith is portrayed in this novel because everyone have to believe something that will eventually happen. Something like a change, like when you have faith that their will be a change, that something good will happen. Hassan, Rahim Khan, Sopyhia and Baba has a little faith as well.
To be honest I don't know how Baba and Amir defined faith. But I am aware that they have it. Amir has faith that one day his dad will be affectionate to him like Hassan's pretend daddy is. Baba feels that if it was meant for him to be a live, then no kind of treatment is necessary.

Faith.

Faith is a big part of this book because each character has experienced something, whether it was good or bad. And they all had things that kept them going and move on, even though some had painful memories. I also think faith is included in everyday life because we each believe that things will or can get better eventually.

Have faith or die tryin'

I think faith is present in the Kite Runner. Its something that is always there and is a necessity. Without it, people would have nothing to live for and just give up. I believe that Hassans father, Hassan, and Baba have faith. Hassan's dad always prayed for them when they left outside to play and had faith that they would come back home safe and sound. If he didn't have the faith, then he would probably not even let Hassan out to play or go anywhere. Hassan you can just tell that his father tendencies have rubbed off on him. Baba has to have faith for both Amir and himself, because like always, Amir is too selfish and worried about himself to have faith. Like when Baba found out that he had cancer and refused treatment, Amir automatically said he was going to die and leave him by himself. Baba on the other hand had faith that whatever was to come was Allah's will.

I'm quite skilled in the art of not caring.....

So, I guess I agree with this quote. It's true, that's for sure.
People will hold that grudge & keep those feelings with them & eventually it will do them more harm then the person they can't or won't forgive. Let me just say, carrying around those types of burdens can kill you, man.
Actually forgiving those people (or youself) who have hurt you or whatever damage they've managed to do is showing them that you're strong enough and capable enough to let go & move the f**k on with your life instead of being dragged down by the petty crap of the past that doesn't even matter anymore.

so what he was trying to say was....

Gandhi once said, "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong." Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

Gandhi was basically trying to say that people with jacked up attitudes or unreasonable high self esteem for no reason. Do not know how to come off there high horse and forgive someone for something they probaly will do another time.

Yes, I agree with this statement. You see it everyday.

lets fly a kite ?

i dont know, i feel like i can forgive and then i'll forget for a while, but then i'll remember again and then it would just be harder to forgive again. but i do agree that it makes you stronger if you forgive people. it shows a lot about you, beacause its really hard to forget. :D

Forgive yes..But to forget??? is the question.

I have to say i agree on some level b.c in order for us to forgive we must be strong to overcome the problem and not to hold it as a grudge our whole life. B.c it's exactly that which makes us weak, hating and not forgiving that person, but to do so we must be at peace with our self. Though for the whole for part I don't know, I'm not to sure. I guess depending on the situation yes it's good to forget b.c it just goes to show you relay have forgiven. But there is always that one situation you face in life that you don't want to forget completely b.c its one that you learn from. and if we don't learn how would we ever grow maturely as a person. But that's just my opinion.

Forgiveness Depends

I believe to forgive or not to forgive depends on what type of situation. Now if somebody call that person a bad name and that person forgave then yes that is forgivable and that person is strong because he or she dont hold any grudges cus life is too short but like let say that person killed a family member of that person I dont think because of that action a lot of the people will forgive and that does not make them weak because of just holding grudges or they cant forgive. They become weak because they just lost a love one and they expect justice.

I'm going to stand in the middle and get hit this time ;)

Its hard to forgive someone, depending on what it is that that person did. Sometimes it takes longer to forgive someone, and its not because that person is weak its just they need more time. But yeah I guess you can say it takes a strong person to forgive. A lot of people take advantage of being forgiven, they think they can jump right back into the friendship like nothing has ever happen. That's why its harder for me to forgive...

Gandhi's Quote

Gandhi once said, "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute
of the strong." Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

A person that is able to forgive is strong because it does take alot of courage to forgive someone because they have done something to mess up the realtionship with you. It does not neccessarliy mean that just because you are not going to be forgiven you are a weak person too me that just means you have have to work two times harder to get back into that persons life.

Friday, March 30, 2012

..

I agree, but then disagree. Because a person can forgive somebody time after time; but they can never forget their actions.
After a while, that person can only forgive so much, and get tired of it and just move on from that. But I don't believe that only the "weak" can never forgive. If anything, it'll take time for that "weak" person to forgive. It doesn't just happen over night. It does take alot of courage and sucking up your pride to forgive someone. A lot of people say you're actually weak when you DO forgive. So it can be the total opposite.

Its Hard to Forgive Someone

I agree what Ghandi said because you can't hold on a grudge on someone else and that's not healthy to live with it. Then sometimes it depends on why you can't forgive someone that have done something so horrible. For me I would forgive someone because I don't hold on grudges I just forgive and let things go. That's how Ghandi is, he doesn't hold grudges he forgives and forget and let things go. All people should do that so they don't have to live through it

Snapsssss!

This sounds like such a tweet. But anyways, I truely agree with this. Weak people can never forgive because they think to highly of themselves to actually be the bigger person and say "eff it". I also feel that if you can forgive you have to be stronge because that person obviously did something to hurt you.
Gandhi once said, "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong." Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

Forgiveness!!
In my opinion everything can be forgiven but not forgotten. Forgiving others is something very difficult to do. But everyone has a different view of what can be forgiven.. I think that the hardest people to forgive are the ones who are the closest to you.If someone you barely know  wrongs you it is easier to forgive because you  probably don’t expect much from that person anyway.
You never know how you will react when you are in a situation where you have to decide if you want to forgive the person or not. Even though I think everything can be forgiven, that doesn’t mean that the relationship between the person you have forgiven will go back to the way it was.

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Forgive....BUT never forget.

I agree but also disagree. I am one to hold grudges and will remember everything. I can forgive but I can NEVER forget. It's impossible to be "best friends" or be "cool" with someone who has effed you over after you trusted them or even something as small as lying to you or sending you off. While I will forgive, my relationship with a person will never be the same because the "thing" or what happened between us will always be in the back of my head regardless of how much time has passed. People are shady and will screw you over one way or another. I've learned that the hard way but I've also learned to forgive, move on, but to never forget what that one person did to you.

"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong."

Gandhi once said, "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong." Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

I agree because if you dont forgive it just shows how immature and childish you are holding on to something that basically happened in the past. People that forgive end up having less things to worry and deal with. So I do agree with Gandhi.

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Agree! :)

I agree to this quote because what its saying that you should always be strong and forgive regardless of the situation. Showing that your strong gives a positive feedback and shows that your able to look through that and forgive. Unless its a really weak person who had gotten weak from a problem. They will not be able to forgive who made them weak. But regardless of being weak or strong you shall always forgive to be forgiven. Always try to look past the problem its the right thing to do be STRONG NOT WEAK. Your strong on the outside and forgive but in the inside your still weak and remember it.

Forgivenes

Gandhi once said, "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong." Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

Yes I do. The quote is like saying in order of you to forgive you have to be strong because you have to overlook the bad things they did in order to forgive them. If your weak your not able to forgive because you don't have the force to do it. forgiveness is like the material to be strong, because that's what life is all about forgiving peoplee.

!!!!!!!!!!!!... SIKE?

If I were to praise or whatever a punctuation mark it would definitely be the question mark? I love it because it can go all kinds of ways. Example A: Did grandma really die? Which is super serious OR...
Example B: uhh obviously dude, hello? Which is super sarcastic OR...
Example C: really? Really dude? Seriously? Which is super pissed. So to conclude this, my favorite is the question mark, exclamation point can suckit? :D

:)

If I were to write an essay praising a certain punctuation mark, I would choose an exclamation point!! i would choose an exclamation point because I tend to be very loud speaker, i tend to be very demanding sometimes and bossy so i think the exclamation point would suit me right.

!!!!!

This week, we read and discussed Pico Iyer's "In Praise of the Humble Comma" (and you know you loved it). If you had to write an essay praising a punctuation mark, which punctuation mark would you choose and why? Semi-colon? Dash? Comma? Colon? Period? Exclamation point? Question mark?

I did not love the poem, whatever it was!!!!!! I mean i learned something from it, but i didn't like itt! It was so lamee Noonan! But anywhoooooo.. I would have to say the exclamation point. Because it's amazinggg. You could like make your point into a big point by just putting like a thousand exclamation pointtt! I think periods are too boringggg. Comma's take to longgg!

Exclamation Point!!!!!!

I would choose to be an exclamation point because to me they put more emphasize on what you are trying too say. I think it brings out what the author is trying too say and really get the main pionts. Of what is really imporant.
If you had to write an essay praising a punctuation mark, which punctuation mark would you choose and why? Semi-colon? Dash? Comma? Colon? Period? Exclamation point? Question mark?

I think I would choose an exclamation point! Just because it makes things sound more exciting and less boring. Whenever there is an exclamation point in a sentence or paragraph it makes things more interesting :D

Exclamation Mark !! :D

If I had to choose a punctuation mark it will be the exclamation mark because it just makes it more exciting and you have to keep that reader motivated to keep on reading and it does. I guess that the most outgoing punctuation mark in gramme.

Exclamation mark!

Ummm Noonan! Your a creep we didn't like it so stop trying to spread rumor lol!

Anyways if I were to pick I would pick exlamation mark! Since I'm always blurting things out and I'm always being loud! To me exclamation marks could tell your mood in a text if your happy or sometimes mad. Their an interesting thing! So I would write about an exclamation mark and how their interesting give positive note to the reader

Friday, March 23, 2012

Comma :D

If I had to write a paper on a punctuation mark which I hope we won't have to do anytime soon it would have to be "The Comma". Though we mostly see the comma as weak I personally can say I use it a lot even when I talk b.c there are times I could go on and on and with out it i would go out of breath lol. Plus we use it pretty much through out our every day life's, for something so weak we sure do see it all over.

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Semi-Colon or Comma? I DON'T CARE

If I was writing an essay and has different sentences I would use semi-colon because sometimes they sentence doesn't make any sense any sentence and I would have to use the semi-colon. Then sometimes I would have to use the comma because when your writing a sentence it has a pause to it and you will know when to use it. Let's just said I'll use comma because its easier.

; ; ; ; ; ; ;

I would choose a semi-colon; because they bring together complete sentences. It brings an idea; followed by the other idea that goes along with it. Not only that, but I find it FUN to use :)))) nobody likes PERIODS...like you Noonan; HAHA.

The Comma or NOT the Comma,,,,,hahaha

If I had to write an essay on a punctuation mark, it would most likely be, THE COMMA. Even though we read that they are sometimes "weak", I don't think they are, because, they bring s many things together that no other punctuation mark can do. The Comma (hehe all capital) can not stand on it's own, but we use them everyday, and if there isn't a Comma in on of our papers you'll circle it! So saying allllll of this,,,,,,,,i picked the Comma!

Exclamation Mark! ^-^

Who lied to you and said we loved it Noonan?

But if had to choose an punctuation mark it would the exclamation mark becasue I feel I talk to loud sometimes and I'm always yelling. So I believe this mark fits me! And the exclamation mark makes things more exciting.

I shall Choose Ellipses...

Have you ever ran out of words to say, too lazy to finish a sentence, if your quoting something and its too long to rewrite it, been angry, just want to make the reader stop after the sentence as if their at a stoplight, or just leaving a mysterious ending to whatever it is that your talking about... Everyone does it... But i don't think society really understand why they're doing it. Some people just do it because their at a lost of words or they don't know what else to put.
