Success
My definition of success are accomplishments, hard work, degrees or diplomas, graduating, and career. How far I would go to be successful is to study and work hard, graduate, and making sure I get all of my degrees on time. There are times that people do sacrifice for success like leaving their friends and family, quitting their jobs for something they want to do, and more.
SUCCESS MEANS...........
When you prove something about yourself or making a living that you work hard on. One day when I graduate from college I will find a job that I will like and have a lot of money that I can save, probably buy a house or a small apartment, then I'll become a huge successful person. I don't believe I have to make a sacrifice for anyone because if I work and do what I have to do then I will make myself proud and my family.

THAT BABY IS A CREEP LOL..LOOKS LIKE NOONANS BABY IF YOU SAY SOMETHING ABOUT SHAKESPEARE
Well DRAKE SAID......
The definition of successful for me is a person who is finacially stable. They don't have to borrow money or struggle with anything it's already there and they can get what they want when they want. I would do what I can legally because if you do something illegal there is no point in having what you needed. Because you will probally be behind bars. Drake said he just wanna be succesful. I think that's what everyone wants.
I only do it for the scars & stories. Not the fame. :)
My definition of sucess would have to be doing what you love, being who you are no matter what, and just being happy wherever you are with whatever your doing. I mean, what's the point of being sucessful when your not even HAPPY with yourself or what your doing?
I guess when it comes to certain sucesses, I lose people along the way. and honestly, half the time it's my fault that happens. I can admit, when I really want something, I pretty much assume everyone around me who isn't a big part of my life (like the loves of my life are) don't exist.
It's a horrible thing to admit to, but there's always been two groups for me. There's People and then there's the group of beings that I love no matter what. If your not in that group of beings, then your just another person to me. And that's how it's always been.
I think people sacrifice way too much for something they don't even want in the end. Back then, I sacrificed alot of things I now know that I probably didn't have to. But now, thinking on it, without sacrificing those things/people, I wouldn't be who I am or experienced the things I had experienced or know the things I now know today.
So, in the end, it was worth it. :)
If you want something, go for it, man. Just don't forget where you come from and who you were.

What is your definition of success? How far would you go to be successful? Do people ever sacrifice too much for success?
Success for me is when you accomplish the goals you have set for yourself. To be successful you must take some decisions, you must know what you want to accomplish and plan as how you would want your life to be. Success is a feeling of happiness, their is nothing more exciting than accomplishing a goal you have set for yourself. To be successful is to understand what is important to you, to recognize your weaknesses and your flaws but to never give up no matter how difficult it might get.

Someone successful
What is the definition to success... Well to mean the definition to success means that your doing something to be able to move on like encouraging yourself in doing something to better yourself in life. The actual definition is the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors. For me as in going far to become successful I would go pretty far but in a good way. I wouldn't do something that is not right just to be successful. If I were to think about it as of now I think that I would encourage myself to graduate on the honor roll. Then i would continue on to college. I would pick a successful career to get paid good amount of money because I love money. I think that there's times when people really do go very far to become successful. I've heard of people that are drug dealers and do things with that law to get money and become someone successful. For me to become someone successful I would only do it the right way it should be. SOMEONE I WILL BE SOMEONE REALLY SUCCESSFUL :)
Success!
My definition of success to me means making something out of yourself and completing your dreams and goals. I'm not really sure how far i would to make myself successful, but i would most likely go as far as i could in school to become successful and see where that leads me. But i do agree that many people do to much to become someone who is successful and it's not really that necessary.

What Success means too me...
What is your definition of success? How far would you go to be successful? Do people ever sacrifice too much for success?
My definition of success is an achievement that you have worked on for a long time and haven't given up on. The farthest I would go to be successful is knowing that once I'm fully happy with everything I have accomplished so far. I think people sacrifice too much for success because people will give up there social life, friends, and family. To me I think that is going too far. My opinion I don't think you have too give up anything in order for a person too be happy.

:S
My definition of success is a person who achieves everything that he or she has been working towards. In order for me to be successful I will do everything I possibly could or am willing to do to get where I want to be, besides stepping over people. Some people go to an extreme in attempting to be successful and hurt others or themselves in the process, they should learn that the best success is personal success. This type of success is what comes from within and is what is the known to be the best type. My favorite quote on success:

Success :)
MY DEFINITION OF SUCCESS WOULD HAVE TO BE WHEN A PERSON FULLFILLS THEIR DREAM OF BEING OR DOING WHATEVER THEY WANT TO DO OR BE. I WOULD GO AS FAR AS SCHOOL AND COLLEGE TO GET TO SUCCESS, BUT I WILL NEVER STEP ON PEOPLE TO GET IT! MANY PEOPLE THESE DAYS STEP ON PEOPLE AND TOTALLY FORGET ABOUT THEIR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO GET WHAT THEY WANT WHEN A PERSONS FAMILY SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST.
"Action is the foundational key to all success." Pablo Picasso
In my opinion success means that you tried your best to do something and you accomplished it. When you really want to do something and need motivation, and then when you do it you feel happy and joyful that you succeeded in something that many other people did not. It's also something you have to gain or lose friends and do some things that you might not want to do, but at the end of the day that decision will make your life different and a success.
If it is something that I really want to do then I will do whatever it takes to make sure its a successful task. There are a lot of things I would sacrifice for something that I think will later be a success. But I do feel that those things and decisions that I might make will be bad, but at the end of the day it will be a lesson learned.
There are people that might sacrifice too much for success, but who am I to judge.

What is success????
My definition of success would be the reward of achieving a goal or goals that you have set for your self in life. Which you have worked so hard to accomplish weather they are little goals like getting good grades, apliyying to colleges or where you plan to be in the future. Such as career wise and how you plan to get there. I have to say I would go through a lot in order for me to be a great success, because I kind of do it now with out giving it much thought. For example me working while I do school and volleyball takes a lot out of me but I do it because I do skateboard design which helps me with my art, as well as build up my skills and portfolio. For what I plan to do in life being "illustration" as well as in college so I know its worth it and its something I love doing and good at. I do believe there are some people in the world that sacrafice to much for success, forgetting about family and friends and butting there career above everything else. Which for me I know I could never do because my family and friends are my support towards my success and give me the extra push when I need it.
"i just wanna be, I just wanna be..successful"
My definition of success is fulfilling your full potential and being happy with a good steady job, good social life and just being happy. I would go the farthest and do the most to reach success. Being able to say that you love your job and get paid wonderfully and still go home and keep a smile on your face is all the success you need. There are some people who are very rich and successful but not happy or fulfilled. I think a lot of people sacrifice many things to reach success in the workplace but to me success just isn't about your career. Some people will give up their family life or social life in order to be successful. Its actually kind of sad, the fact that your willing to give up people or step all over people to be successful at work.
Succes
What is your definition of success? How far would you go to be successful? Do people ever sacrifice too much for success?
My definition of success is someone who accomplish something, but not steeping on anyone to get there. Someone who aims for a goal and they get there. I would go as far as i needed too be successful. Like go to school as much as i had to, study, get as many jobs. Yes, people sacrifice many things for success, like some people do it to there lovers to go to a college out of state. Is just sacrifice the many things.
SUCCESS! >:D
What is your definition of success? How far would you go to be successful? Do people ever sacrifice too much for success?
My definition of success reaching the goals that you have set for yourself, any kind of goals. Everybody has there own definition of success what is success for you may not be considered success for other people. I would go as far as I need to go to reach my goal on being successful.I think there is a lot of people out there that do tend to sacrifice to much for success but sacrificing isn't always a bad thing because towards the end you are going to gain success:)

-fave quote.
"I thought it would be easier if we were just one color, black or white".
-I think this quote is important because James and his mom struggled being the color that they are. Especially being a white woman and marrying black men, and having babies by them. James always questioned his mom about being black and not having light skin like his mom. Ruth always tried to avoid all of that.

A Bird Who Flies.
"THAT CHICKEN IS JUST SHOWINH GOD WE'RE THANKFUL FOR LIVING. IT'S JUST A CHICKEN' IT'S NOT A BIRD WHO FLIES. A BIRD WHO FLIES IS SPECIAL. YOU WOULD NEVER TRAP A BIRD WHO FLIES."...... I love this quote because it shoes that Ruths mom didnt really care if Ruth wanted to live her life. This is how i think my parents are when i talk about college. The want me to go but they'll like it better if i stayed in Illinois to go to school.

My Favorite Quote...
"..you have to say all your 'sorrys' and 'i love yous' while a person is living because tomorrow isnt promised"- Ruth (pg 217)
This was my favorite quote because its true and has so much meaning. Ruth didnt have to chance to say that because by that time, she had been dead. You have to be able to suck up your pride sometimes because tomorrow is never promised. Then, if you dont get the oppurtunity, or even if you do but its too late your always going to have that regret and that "what if" feeling.
“Yesterday is a canceled check; tomorrow is a promissory note; today is the only cash you have - so spend it wisely”

The Color of Water contains several good quotations. Choose one that you find significant. Include the quotation and the page number in your post. Then explain why that quotation is significant.
"That's why you have to say all your "sorrys" and " i love yous" while the person is living , because tomorrow is not promised" - Ruth
This was definitly one of my favorite quotations in the book. Very significant and meaningful. Many of us go through each day without knowing that tomorrow isin't promised and uslually we never remember to tell our loved ones how important they are for us and how much we care for them. Tomorrow is not promised so everyday remind someone how much you love them and how much you care <3

I have now come to the conclusion that I have been confused for many a day and I now love many a days.
I felt like a Tinkertoy kid building my own self out of one of those toy building sets; for as she laid her life before me,I reassembled the tableau of her words like a picture puzzle, and as I did, so my own life was rebuilt.
This would have to be my favorite quote in the book. Sure, there's others in there that are just as amazing but this one really hit home for me, at the present time haha. :')
It's significant because James used to be ashamed and embarrassed of his mother and (sometimes) his heritage, but when he listened to his mother tell him these stories, her actual life just poured into words, he realized he didn't even know half of what it meant to be himself, much less his mother.
It gave him that good kick in the ass and made him rebuild what he thought he knew about life AND himself. And someone who can make you rebuild who you are and make you really "get it", will be one of the most amazing people you will ever meet in your life. <3
i'm chicken.
"but all your 'sorrys' are gone when a person dies. she was gone. gone. thats why you have to say all your 'sorrys' and 'i love yous' while a person is living because tomorrow isnt promised" pg 217.
i thought this quote was berry very important through out the book, because i felt like Ruth had a lot to say but she was just so quite about everything.
for example:
- she probably didn't want to show any weakness,
- she tried pushing her kids away (to college and what not) because she wanted them to know that even though that she wants them to do good , she loves them a lot
- with her own mom, and her family and they were never effectuated, even though she probably did want to hug her mom once in a while or wanted to tell her mom that she was going to be okayand maybe that's why in the end she wrote the latter to James, that talked about her story, because in the end she was going to die and she did want to say her i love yous :D
chicken or bird???
I think a quote that I found significant was the one where the mom talks about the chicken. ”That chicken is just showing God we're thankful for living. It's just a chicken, it's not a bird who flies. A bird who flies is special. You would never trap a bird who flies". I found this quote on page 218. When first read this quote. I thought about how its so similar to ruths life because how she wasnt really free because she was like the chicken she wasn't able to be free. But she's thankful for everything she has in life thought, she had her kids and that's all she needed. She felt she was stuck in life because how her kids were bi racial and she felt she was judged because of that. She also felt that her kids wwere also stuck and not free
RESPONE TO MELINDER
this is a good quote.. I personally think he needs a theropy because he has an identity crises..
fav quote
"Mop this godamn loor and don't smoke while you doin' it neither." I think this was the funniest quote to me well at least one of the funniest quotes. James wasn't raised to be lazy or to smoke. After his step father died he stop caring so now he has to be told to do stuff and to be motivated. Or else he wouldn't care or do it.

Favorite Quote
"I thought it would be easier if we were just one color, black or white. I didn't want to be white. My siblings had already instilled the notion of black pride in me. I would have preferred that Mommy were black. Now, as a grown man, I feel privileged to have come from two worlds." I like this quote because he went through a complete attitude transformation during the changing from childhood to adulthood. He went from hating his mother's race to feeling blessed to have come from a mixed race union. And it shows the real person that James really is and how he admires his family.
Quote
Page 218."That chicken is showing God we're thankful for living". This quote mean that the chicken is telling us we should be thankful to be living that God gave us life. In color of water it explain everything about life because it tells us what we're doing in life and how we can excepted instead of fighting it because no matter what God will always be there like our family be there for us

Last Paragraph.
"That chicken is just showing God we're thankful for living. It's just a chicken, it's not a bird who flies. A bird who flies is special. You would never trap a bird who flies"
This mean like a bird who flies freely. And that's how James brothers and sisters were, in my opinion they ran freely. But with respect. They never got trapped, and if they did they would untrap themselves. Like when they got stuck in drugs, alcohol, and all that bad stuff, but in time the flew away from all that. So technically they were never trapped completely.

Taylor- I agree that to her mother the most important things to her was her kids getting an eduction and them going to church on Sundays.
Tina- Its true that since the very beginning you notice that his mom was very religious and it was important for her kids to see that the color of your skin didnt matter but that God had made them..with love:)

Religion & Faith
Both religion and faith are two big things and part of the book. You see it from the very beginning and James says that every Sunday his momma and all his brothers and sisters would be at church. James mom always kept her hope and her faith high. Whenever something was going on she put her faith in God. She always had faith that as long as her family stayed united they would be okay and if her children stayed in school they would all someday be somebody important and go somewhere in life.
NO TV UNLESS YOU PRAY
I think that religion places an impotant part in the story because the mother puts that before everything. That's why I made my title "no tv unless you pray" i can imagine her telling her kids that because she dosen't care about telling them what race they are or explaing to them where they are from. She cares about them getting an education and going to church on sunday.
Faith/Religon
Faith and Religion is an important message in the book. Because Faith is what the mom, son, and family belive in. They all believe in going to college, getting an education. Ruby has a bunch of faith and Religon. She goes to church all the time. But In the book it may not talk about how much she believes but you can tell because she never gives up. She has faith for her children and herself. Her son has faith in himself by all the things he ben thr and everything.
Religion, Faith, and all that jazz...
Faith & Religion are always playing a major part in the novel The Color Of Water. Even in the first few chapters, where you expect nothing but a few informatory sentences about what the freak is going on, they already start throwing in some religious based statements, facts [ex: "When I asked she'd say, "God made me."] and delve straight into religion. Faith is intertwined with all the chapters, but to me, it takes awhile to build up enough to recognize it clearly.
Comments
Yvette: I agree with you, James parents where very religious and they both had faith.
Melissa: The family always had faith of getting through some difficulties they faced.

FAITH AND RELIGION
Faith and religion is related to in color water when James mother is Jewish because she was born and raise with her entire life. Many families are like that because some people are very religious and want everything to be in the family. For example Rachel and her family are Jewish but they live a rough town and the kids go to Jewish school to learned something but hate to learn about it. Not all families are like that because they don't care about their faith and religion only they care about is happiness like color in the water that's how Rachel feel about her kids with their happiness.
Faith and religion
In what ways do faith and/or religion play an important role in The Color of Water? Use specific examples from the text.
Faith and religion both play an important role in The Color of Water. Ruth always talks about the importance of religion and how much she believes in god. In the book they mention how they go to church sunday mornings and their mom expects them to be in their best behavior. Ruth does try her best to answer question James has all the time about God, for example James asked her what color was God and Ruth responded the question by saying that God was the color of water. Faith plays an important role when they face some difficulties because of their skin color/ race they all have faith that they are the same as others and have no differences.

Faith or Religion
Me personally i think that both religion and faith both play roles in the book "THE COLOR OF WATER". The kids come from a mixed raced. Both their mother and father or step father had lots of faith and were religious. They got go roles played for towards their children. The children mother is a very good role because she has lots of faith on her family. their mom is a Jew and she plays a well role for them. Her children are really questionable about who she really is because of how she never tells them about herself. i think that is shows when James asked his mom what skin color was God and she responded to them by saying that God was the color or whatever he stood next to. Also when she says that God lives in everyone and is everywhere.
The color of water "faith and religion"
Faith and religion play a big part in the book "The color of water" because in faith James mom will do anything for her kids to get they need. She will do anything. She protects them. Most importantly she tries for all her children to attend a school where her kids dont need to be criticize . Religion also plays a big part for example James mother explains that God does not have a race and that he is the color of water.

Faith&Religion.
Faith and Religion are both two very important things in the book because through this book it explains how the mother came from a very orthodox Judaism family that lived by traditions. And as time went on the mother dealed with many things but always had faith in herself and others, especially her children. Rachel was also very religious her and her kids would attend church all the time and she had her kids do some of the readings. The family always had a way of getting through things.
Religion YO!
Faith and religion have plenty to do with the book. There are several times when James mentions what a devoted Christian her mother was and how every Sunday her and her twelve children would be at church. All the times that James would ask his mother about race she would say how there is no color and God see's no color and when James asked what color God was she simply said that god was the color of water. Another example is when she was talking about how she felt about being a orthodox Jew and how when she converted to Christianity she truly felt the power of God and how she found herself in God and helped her through her life.

Faith and Religion
I think that religion and faith have alot to do with the book "The Color of Water". I think this becauswe that is what really keeps the family going especially because the children come from a bi racial marriage that there parents have. For example how James was asking his mother that what color skin god was. She would say that he has no color that he is whatever color he is next too. That shows that there religion is a big part of their life and is very open. Another example would be when James mother went to the store to go and return the milk because it was spoiled. That shows that she will stand up for what she knows is right and wrong.
The Color of Water.
Faith plays a strong role in the book because of how James mother tries to
get all of her children to go to school and college. She doesn't give up on them: she believes in them. And how her husband died, that played strong role in all of her children's lives. But she didn't let that stop her from having faith in them to go to school. Religion is a huge thing in the book because of the two different races going on. This relates back to the title of the book "The Color of Water", and how James viewed God. His mom tries to explain to him how God lives in you and he is whatever you see him as.

Faith and religion play a really important role in the book because it's a about story of two different races. In this story people tend to stereotypes a lot specially when it comes to James mother.Faith and religion play a really big role in this story because for example when James mother Ruth's talks about how god is the color of water, water is obviously clear so he isn't any color. She explained that if you have faith that god is like identical to you, with your faith he keeps you going in life. She explains how god is your color, he is not just one typical color.in this story they all go through tons of obstacles together as a family but they all manage to have FAITH and manage to get through them.

Importace of faith and or religion....
I feel faith/ religion have an important role in the book because it's about the story of two races and there differences. latter talking about god and how he has no color, hes not black nor white hes a spirit. Study Strageties
My study strategies are being alone in my room , putting a little music, and having all my notes with me to study. This works for me because I concentrate more with my books and music and I also stay on tasks with no distractions. What does not work for me is very silent places. I have the opposite problem I can't concentrate with no music or a little bit of noise because it gets to boring.

:T
Studying is my main key to getting a good grade. Listening and talking about a subject doesn't always get through. I'm more of a "independent study" type of person. If I don't even try to open a book, I'll literally fail, I'm not good at making guesses, which kind of explains my philosophy of "go hard or go home." I have to be in a semi-quiet room with NO technology, I'm more of a old fashion type, in order to study. Just by reading something once and comprehending what I read, I'm good for any exam or quiz. I also like to use acronyms and abbreviations when it comes to any type of memorization.A bad habit is not having any type of noise around, because I know for a fact that I will fall asleep. Another would be having my phone on me. it's never a good thing. A text comes in and I act like those people who suddenly scream "squirrel!" while talking to someone. I tend to get tooooooooo easily distracted. :(
response to Isela
lol..i agree..and for some test I think teachers tell you to study just so afterward they can say you didn't like math...
TOO STUDY OR NOT TO STUDY
It depends on what class it is for, for instance I never studyed for history exams I always just passed. Now I can listen to my ipod and read over the notes over and over again. To make sure I rember the infromation i find a key word in the definition that sets the rest of the definitions apart, so I won't be so confused.
Studying..not for me
I don't like to study, I feel like its too much for my brain. Well I do study but like right before the test, exam, or quiz, like that, ill remember everything for sure because I just studied it minutes ago. Smart huh? (: or if I'm reading a book, I listen to one specific song over and over while I'm reading, so at the time of these all I have to do is remember the song and things about the book start poping on my head. If I study for days, I won't remember it cuz I cramed so much crap in my brain and I panic and I go blank. So ill stick to my own study habits!
How I study for exams...
My favorite way to study for exams is with my notes and study guides. I rather read the question ans the answers to help memorize it once I learn the next one then go over the ones I know till i go through them all. The same with vocab only some times when I finish I try writing them down. I can't really study with others because I get distracted and want to talk about other stuff. Unless I'm at home ill have my mom quiz me and what ever I don't know or get wrong Ill go back and study them, until I get them right. I Also don't like studying late at night because ill get them wrong and I get really crabby.
Studying? Does not compute!
I don't usually study. Of course, I try but I just end up blanking out and staring at the notebook or sheet of paper I'm suppose to be studying, with glazed eyes for a few hours.
It just never did much for me.
Most of the time, I just think of all the information the situation calls for and flick through it in my head for a few minutes. Then, I can pretty much remember it for as long as I need.
But studying? It's just not something I'm programed to do.

Studying
To prepare for quarter exams...describe your favorite studying strategy. Why does it work for you? Any study strategies that DON'T work for you?
My favorite studying strategy is making a study guide. I usually don't go over the stuff I already know. I leave the least difficult things to remember towards the end and study the difficult things first. I could only study in a quiet place. What also helps me is repeating the stuff over and over again. Sometimes I study and my mind goes blank when im taking the test. I guess that's just me. The strategy that doesn't work for me is studying with people if I dont study in a quiet place i can't concentrate.

I have no idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a very lazy person and I hate studying, I have this philosophy that if I read over it a couple of times or listen in class I will be fine. But nothing helps, even if I do study I still end up failing the test. So I feel like "why study, it's pointless". So yea that's how I feel about studying or what I'm going to d0.
study
I remember things when I read something that I know if it doesn't work I use my highlighters to underline the main point that I need to study. One thing that does not work for my studies making me confused because when they change it I don't know what to do. The only things can help me is going through my notes to make sure I have everything that nothing goes missing.
@
Claudia: you had me going with the you "don't study" part. you're always the first one to finish all your study guides.
Melissa: yeah going over notes and reviewing are good way to help you study :D

highlighter.
The strategies that i use when i study are
Things that sometimes don't work out for me are
- -I highlight the most important things, the things that i need help in, and the things that I'm missing. So in the end I have a different colors on my paper, so i guess you can say that i can be real color coordinated.
- -I also repeat things over and over again to remind my self the meaning of what I'm reading.
- -I make outlines..
- -I try to be as organized as possible.
- -Another strategy that i have is that i make little rhymes or stories to help me remember things, (i don't know if it makes sense..)
- -and lastly i guess sitting in the kitchen table to review things over,
- -that and reviewing before going to sleep so that i can still remember when i wake up in the morning
Things that sometimes don't work out for me are
- -studying with someone else, because sometimes i can get distracted, or i can distract people. so that sometimes doesn't work out for me.
- -also it cant be completely quiet, that just distracts me as well. i have to be listening to music or something. and that's just about it.

Studying Strageties...
Ways that help me study for quarter exams would be going over the study guides one by one and reviewing things that I am still unsure of. Or things that I might have questions on. I also have someone else quizz me and ask me questions that are on the study guide. Ways that distract me from studying for quarter exams are having my phone with me because I get tempted to text. Or studying in groups is something I really can't do because I get tempted to go off topic and talk about something else.
Studying strategies? o_O
One of my studying strategies is being alone in my room and looking over my study guides or cheat sheets. I don't really like studying in groups or anything like that. I feel distracted and like i won't get anything done. I study quietly, it's weird how I don't study out loud. I study or look over each study guide for about 30 minutes or so. I try not to rush myself while I look over them cause then I'll get overwhelmed and frustrated. Or I'll just look over one study guide one day and then another one the next day. It works for me because I'm by myself and I'm more organized with my study guides.
Study
Study what? I don't study. I'm to cool to study. Kiddinggggg!
What works for me is everything has to be quite and i have to repeat myself out loud. If i do it with music on i start thinking of the music. If i don't repeated it i forget the day of the test. It workds for me at least i think it doess.

Studying? Hmmm....
To prepare for quarter exams...describe your favorite studying strategy. Why does it work for you? Any study strategies that DON'T work for you?
Well when i'm studying for exams i have to listen to music and sometimes work with friends so that everything i learned will stick in my memory. This works for me because when i hear a song i can remember that song when I am taking the exam or test. Studying by myself without music will have to be the strategy that doesn't work for me when I a studying.

Studying for exams? O.o
The was i study for exams is I have to look over all my notes&I have to keep rereading it so I can actually remember the things without looking at my paper or any other answers. It works majority of the time if I stay focus and all. What doesn't work if I'm surrounded by a lot of people because I just get distracted and if there's music around I just end up singing and forget what I'm doing. But, I hope for next week finals it'll go good.
To prepare for quarter exams...describe your favorite studying strategy. Why does it work for you? Any study strategies that DON'T work for you?
To prepare for quarter exams I really like using the study guides the teachers give us and make little pamphlets out of them, I fold the paper in half then on one side I write out the question and you open the pamphlet and inside it I write the answer to that question and so on. I'm more of a visual person so that is why I like doing this. I hate just studying of the study I feel like nothing goes inside my brain I feel like I need to re-write everything all over again in my own words in order for me to understand it.

Reply to Aerial
I agree that even though our parents fight with us they are still caring. I know my mom would break anyone in half if they ever tried to hurt me or cause me pain.
Reply to Jessica
I agree with her on her point that we watch our moms struggle and it makes us think about what we want for the future. Our moms are always there for us and want us to do better.
Blast from the Past
My moms past affects my life now because she told me about her mistakes and taught me to never try and commit them again. She tell me stories of when she was younger and all her experiences from when she was in highschool. She would hate for me to go through what she did so I try good and hard to follow what she says and listen to her. Her stories make me think twice when I make some decisions.
@
Tina: like i said, i like how you mentioned that you dont let it affect you :)
Alison: your right, not everyone is perfect, you stay strong guurl ;)
Alison: your right, not everyone is perfect, you stay strong guurl ;)
since i've been loving you -led zeppling.
Like Tina mentioned i don't really let my parents mistakes or past affect me.
My family problems will always be there and i guess i do have to realize that some mistakes did lead to some problems and at the same time its thier past, so somewhat its not my fault for whatever happened in the passed that maybe i wasn't part of.
What happened in the past stays in the past and I'm not going to let it affect me in any way, unless something big happens in the future that involves me then that's probably going to be a different story. Like many of my classmates mentioned, some parents didn't really have a good life growing up and i guess that's why they push us to do better; so we as well can do and be better...

I'm more then you'll ever know, baby.
Honestly? I never let my parent's pasts affect my decision making or affect my life. They're supportive, of course. Am I grateful for that? Sure I am. Would it make any difference to me if they weren't? Not a one. I'm not who they are or were. I know that and they know that as well. And as my ma likes to say, "Your just like your father. Tell you not to do that or say that and what do you do? You go off & do it anyways." :) Hey, what can I say? I AM my father's daughter (which is.....also not altogether a good thing, lemme just tell you that).
But because of my parent's mutual pasts, I wasn't raised stupid, naive or doubtful of myself. If were good at something, we were good at something (We have alot of pride to our own mutual names) And because of that, it taught me how to survive and not to give a damn what anybody though of me or the way I choose to live my life.
I love who my parents were and are. Without their past and my past, well, I wouldn't be who I am today. and I mean, where would the fun be if I wasn't me? :)

Respond For Breanca's
My mom is the same. I've seen her struggle her whole life just because she wants the best for me and my sister :)
Comment for Aerial's
Our parent's past could affect us in both a positive or negative way, like you said Aerial :)
My mom's past.
What effect--if any--do your parents' pasts have on your own life? Explain
I grew up with my mom being both a mom and a dad to me. Everyday ever since I was small I seen how much of a responsible mother my mom was. Every little girl grows up wanting a wondefull father by their side at all times, but having my mom I never felt like I needed the company of my dad. With her I had it all. Thanks to my moms past I am who I am now. As I grew up I watched her struggle but still manage to smile at all times. She's the only person I look up to because of that! She didin't have the best past but like she says she learned so many things from it. Her past does have an effect on my own life, She doesn't want me to make the same mistakes she made thats why she wants the best for me and my little sister.

Parents Affects
The effects of my parents pasts was them fighting and getting a divorce nd then ever since then we had negative weird things that had happen in our house that we used to live in and had to move out and now I live with my grandparents and so does my brother but also lives with my mom. But we are still happy that we still have a home to live in. We still love them both no matter what had happened. We are only human nobody is perfect .
