The characteristics of a effective leader are different because there are leaders who talk more about what problems we are having, more out-spoken, more in control, who is willing to take ideas, and confident. There are leaders who are sometimes not that much into control, not that outspoken, who is not willing to take ideas from other people and not that confident. I don't know who are the real leaders, but i do know that real leaders are those who take risks, who believe what is right and what is wrong, who will protect and who will change the community or society. Real leaders will do anything.
I agree a bit with what Allison's saying. Sometimes a leader isn't always the loudest or most confident person in the group. But It's the quiet ones you need to watch out for. :)
