What is the internal conflict in "Eveline"? Do you agree with her choice? Explain. How is this short story an example of Modern Literature?
Ummm... I think that Eveline did the right thing. I think this because her father was sick and his helpless. But she doesn't leave because every time she thinks about it she thinks about the promise she made to her mother. Even though her dad is mean and is abusive to her. She feels really hurt and she feels like she isn't loved by him. She has the idea to run away and go with her fellow lover frank. But the bad idea is in the back of her head where she feels bad if she does leave her dad. So she goes to leave with frank and then realizes that is something happens to her dad. She will forever be hurt and feel guilty because of her actions. I think that this is an example of modern literature because it gives details of what would have had happen if she left and what will be the good results for her staying with her father. Now Eveline could take care of her father and not feel be there for him and if something happens she'll be there with him and not somewhere else. She prevented feeling guilty later in the future if her dad died or something.
yeah, even though she was abused by him and did bad things to her. she will always love him, he is her father. so she felt like she had to take on that responsibility to take care of him, since nobody else was. nuff said!!
