I believe that the internal conflict in "Eveline" is that she really wants to leave her home town and move with the love of her life Fred, but she can't because of the promise she made to her mother. I'm not sure if I agree with her choice, because sometimes people just have to live their own lives, when other times they want to make their family happy. I think this short story is a example of Modern Literature because it shows a rebel side. Like how Eveline really wanted to run away but she didn't and how she lived in a small town where everyone was nosey. :)
